CVI Melles Griot Optics Group Stengthens DUV Lens Coating Capability
February 2004 Rochester, New York To further strengthen its advanced thin-film coating capability, CVI Melles Griot Optics Group recently commissioned its new Coating Technology Center. This new facility includes four advanced high-volume vacuum deposition systems, including plasma-assisted evaporation; enhanced, automated, lens-element cleaning systems; and a 900-ft2, Class-1000, lens-inspection and deep-uv (DUV) coating area. At the heart of this new facility is the industrys most advanced multilayer coating system, the Leybold SYRUSpro1100, one of only a few in North America. The SYRUSpro1100 is specifically optimized for precision lens-coating applications down to 193 nm. It includes:
· Metal-sealed, 1.1-m chamber
(DUV enhanced)
· Low-temperature advanced plasma source (APS) plasma-ion-assisted
deposition
· HPE 6 electron-beam evaporator
· High-performance
cryogenic pump
· XMS-series, quartz, thickness-measurement system
·
OMS 4000 monochromator/photometer-based, closed-loop thickness control system
·
390-mm planets with 0-40º tilt range
The SYRUSpro1100 sets a new world-class
standard for advanced vacuum evaporation systems and compliments the already significant
coating capability and capacity at CVI Melles Griot Optics Group.
According to Mr. David Smith, Vice President and General Manager, CVI Melles Griot Optics Group, Our global OEM optical component and systems clients expect us to aggressively expand and optimize our ability to serve their needs for cost-effective optics. This includes high-performance multilayer coatings for transmissive, reflective, and polarizing applications. This new coating facility, including the flagship SYRUSpro1100, greatly enhances our ability to produce the worlds most uniform, high-performance, high-damage-threshold coatings at competitive prices. We will continue to invest in technology, facilities, and human resources to bring our customers the best services and products available in the industry.
